My fav is when young kids tell their parents what to do with a service dog. I can only assume they learn on Sesame Street or something similar.

I ingrained in my children from an early age to always ask before they even approach a dog, whether they're a service dog or not. you never know if a dog is nervous, aggressive, or unsocialized.

I love how there’s a real difference between the moment when the dog is working and when he is told to say hi. You can tell how dedicated he is to her needs and when he’s allowed to go and say hi, he immediately turns into a curious pup. It takes a certain kind of dog to be a service dog.

When I was younger, I used to work as a cashier in a popular department store. I did a lot of jobs around the joint, but as a cashier I got to interact with many people who sometimes had a story to tell. One day a lady came in with a service dog. I knew not to distract the pup. I grew up with many dogs as a child and my parents taught me about service animals. When I asked how the lady was doing after the normal pleasantries, she went on to explain that her pup was going to be put down in a few days after battling heart conditions. My heart broke, and I held her hand on the counter as she told me how much she loved him, and how much he has done for her. We hugged and everyone around at the time was allowed to hug and pet the pup. People checking out in other lines came over to see him after overhearing my call over to my shift lead to come see him. I believe his name was Jake! But, it's been awhile. Dogs are too good for us. Our best friends. I'll always try my best to give every dog the best life possible. They do so much more for us then people know. 🐾 ❤️ Love your vids

Kids need guidance. They just see DOG. Parents like this are so important. I always teach my son, service dog or not, you need to ask permission to interact with someone pet unless they just come up and jump all over you, you need to ask permission. But especially in the case of a service animal

Regardless of whether the dog is a service dog or not, it is so important to teach children to ASK before they pet someone's dog. Not all dogs are child-friendly.
