Explore Byzantine chant!
In this sixth episode of A Joyful Noise, your host and chanter, Christian Farradj, gets you singing Byzantine chant! You will learn about the first plagal mode and the larger melody range of this mode. Also, we’ll sing a common hymn we hear each Sunday together in plagal first mode!
Christian Farradj is from the San Francisco Bay Area, and currently serves as Youth Pastor at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Phoenix, Arizona. He holds a Diploma in Byzantine Music from the Hellenic Conservatory of Music & Arts in Athens, Greece. Christian’s passion for Ecclesiastical Music has taken him all over the world. He is a founding member of Sons of Antioch Byzantine Choir, and a member of the National Antiochian Orthodox Choir of North America.
