How to make my Medieval / Viking Pouch Kit

I go through the main steps of sewing, shaping, and dyeing, with tips and tricks along the way; how to attach your needles onto your thread, how to apply dye correctly, how to increase the interior volume by shaping, and more!

Step One: Sewing 0:57
Step Two: Wet Shaping 10:52
Step Three: Dyeing 11:53

Check out @JeanFrançoisBélanger, who makes wonderful traditional music on nickelharpa and other Scandinavian instruments.

This pouch is based on find(s) from Birka, Sweden, a major viking trade city. The original pouch had a series of metal pieces on it, which gave us the idea of the shape and closure mechanism.

I also apologize that I do not as of yet have a pop filter, and occasionally have some plosive pops from Ps. I tried to make them softer in post! Hopefully next time I'll have a pop filter :)

I just bought the pattern. I'm really looking forward to making the pouch. It's for my SCA Viking persona. Thanks for making the YouTube video.

I wish you still uploaded, i just found your channel and there's none like yours, viking themed and not using all the expensive equipment everyone has. I'm making this bag soon!

I always dye the parts prior to sewing them together. ☺

Just wondering why you didn't dye the leather before assembling? Seems like it would be easier to dye first

might have been easier to dye first before stitching also after wet molding stuffing it with news paper to make it hold she shape as it dried

It seems like it would be a lot easier to dye before stitching. Is there a reason why that's a good or bad idea, or is it just a different approach?

Hello! Would it be possible to sew the body of the bag so it could be turned inside out (so the edges of the leather are hidden)? Kinda like on the turnshoe tutorial that you have

No sería mejor teñir antes de unir las piezas?

Beautiful. Have you ever tried air-brushing the dye for a more uniform coat? Will alcohol based dyes even work in an air-brush? Could be cool. Thanks, keep filming, keep tooling.
