This is actually not allowed because the chance of accidental inbreeding shoots up a lot if too many people in one area are fathered by the same guy

EDIT: For the pedantic nerds in the replies, yes this movie is based on a true story. I just thought I'd offer an interesting piece of trivia but whatever

Unless there is a serious medical reason I say that the identity of sperm donors should remain anonymous. This film was based upon a real life court case where a group who were all conceived from the same donor wanted to know who their biological father was.

This was based on a true story. Also there is a guy out there that has an estimated 600 kids from his donations. He submitted donations under false names, traveled to different cities/countries to donate, and lied about his background to become a more desirable candidate. Even after this it is still a dangerously under regulated industry. The only reason this came to light was 3 women were at the park and noticed all their kids looked similar. Then it turned to 10 in their neighborhood. Then they went out and found more not to far away from them.

I heard of a case of a woman suing a sperm donor for child support, and the stupid part is I believe she got it, if the guy had never touch or/and seen the mom they should not be liable at that point you 100% chose to get pregnant without the guy, and the guy should have every right to stay Anonymous

The right to privacy is real. Them wanting to know who their father is under context isn't a right. People need to stop making shit up. Your rights end upon violation of his anyway.

There is no "basic human right to know who your father is" because that is not a "basic human right"

I heard that in real life someone wasn’t allowed to donate anymore because the chances of Two half siblings getting together without knowing they were half siblings was getting too high or something

At least the doctor used an actual donors sperm instead of his own. There is an alarming number of cases of real doctors using their own sperm to inseminate their patients. One of the most prolific was Dr. Cecil Jacobson, who is believed to have fathered as many as 75 children while he was practicing in the 80s. Thankfully, current medical security practices make it much harder to do this kind of stuff, but cases still pop up now and then.

Until you get sued for child support like the one guy did for an anonymous donation. They held him accountable in a court proceeding he was never even subpoenaed for. He didn’t find out until “Chip Support Garnishment” showed up as a line on his paychecks.

He signed a confidentiality agreement for any donation. Thus, he has a right to privacy. The children do not actually have a right to know who their biological father is not legally anyway

Imagine thinking your "right" to know who your parents are outweighs someones actual right to privacy.

It's laughable that anyone thinks it's a basic human right to know who your father is
