Gugudan- 'Chococo' MV Reaction/Review

Fun fact...when I sped up the MV I noticed that the song does the the guitar melody as an ostinato instead of a chord progression! So the song switches between a tonic prolongation and an ostinato TAT

Man, the composers for the majority of the November releases really do love their repetitive bass lines :')

if you watch their sub-unit's (oguogu) MV Ice Chu you can see how similar it is to this in that it looks super fun and bubbly but there's certain creepy and offsetting things going on (in Ice Chu they're eating all the other ice cream people and their children and killing them with blowdyers and at one point an icecream person stabs themselves in the stomach??? idk its great)


anyways i think jellyfish is really using gugudan for these cutesy borderline creepy concepts and i love it

the song is really fun and pop sounding but there are some really good vocals going on here when you really listen to it. that's one thing about Gugudan that I really like. They're a group with incredible vocalists. They're a group made up of almost all main vocals it seems lol

Thanks for reacting to and analyzing Chococo 👌. I don't know anything musical, I just enjoy songs if I find them catchy or if they interest me, but it's cool to find out that the song wasn't as "generic" as I thought it was. It's relieving that my music taste isn't THAT shallow and the songs I like has some depth to them :p

Umu, you're a fucking life-saver. For the longest time I felt like the final chorus of the song came in too early, that feeling really bugged me but over time after listening to the song again and again I got over that. And here you are explaining exactly why I felt this way about that final chorus. You musicians are something else.

I just loved your faces here! I almost LOLd...! Music school is really getting deep into you, you keep noticing technical points (like your other reactors) but you're also still human, making great faces and remarking how weird the MV is...
