gugudan's group concept is theatrical acts, so alternating between concepts is literally what they will do every single comeback. I can understand why someone who isn't a fan of the group or doesn't know anything about them may think that they haven't found their visual style and are constantly looking for it, but that's not the case.

Their concept is actually quite elaborate, in each promotion period of a comeback the group wears their theater outfits and have a badges representing their old concepts/comebacks and their current one. Right now, they have three and when they comeback again with Act. 4 they'll have a fourth one. Once people realise the groups concept that's when they'll start appreciating the group more.

Hey, I hope you read this.
So I'm a director of artistic photography, and a fan of kpop and I think it's my first time commenting on something here.

Gugudan is a group that changes its concept every time, so it will never be the same, and its MV's are based on stories, or legends each time.

The first mv "Woderland" was based on the little mermaid, but the focus is on her story with her sisters, not on marriage as we see in the Disney tale.
The concept is INVERSE they are human who wants to be mermaids and I believe that's why they came with the name wonderland (cuz that from Alice) where the world is inverted. And they represent that on a "musical".

Their second MV was based on Narcissus' tale.
It's personally one of my favorite MV's, and one of the songs I listen the most, although the music is short, the Mv is quite creative, full of references and several ways on how a person to be a narcissistic, besides showing vanity, is the first time we see Gugudan make a criticism: Every vain girl is automatically dumb. So yeah i luv it.

Now with the third MV Chococo, they are clearly alluding to the Fantastic Chocolate Factory movie, when they put the head of Hershey's I just remember the oompa loompas dancing, but here is the second time I've seen Gugudan criticize something: the giant and scary doll that keeps them watching from eating chocolate is : us.
Girls should always be thin and standardized, they said. (There were even several articles on how Mina was chubby and lost a lot of weight for the mass criticism.)
Then it is denied the pleasure of eating a chocolate, which causes them to have surreal dreams with food. That's it.

And since all the MV's of Gugudan are a little surreal, I found this more similar to those of the japanese artist Kyary Pamyu Pamyu like Pon Pon Pon and Candy Candy.

Gugudan may not have the best songs, but they have a creative artistic sense in the videos (and in a very funny way)..so as well as a lot of potential, and great vocal line (even if the title songs do not show the vocals as they should).
It's worth keeping an eye on. Hope you like it.

They wont settle for one concept. Because their concept is changing concepts. They had it since day 1. They perform theatrical acts. And those acts vary each time. Concept rotation. Did you see theatrical acts with the same act each time? Like in a circus, you cant enjoy if they just perform fire dancing or all magic right?

I believe gugudan's style is doing different theatere acts aka concepts of well known movies/books 😊

I always applaud creativity in videos (too many are all the same, boring) and this one gets high marks! The girls are in weird costumes, acting weird (a lot like RV's Dumb Dumb, which gets top marks for incorporating Salvador Dali imagery) but that's just the normal parts here! Chococo strays off into psychedelic imagery like ten times, so it's not something you show non-kpoppers, it's more like Crayon Pop's weird stuff, so that's fine by me. (Orange Caramel too, Producer is right.) But I agree, it's not marketed at me either (it doesn't have the things that hook me, like f(x), Gfriend, Mamamoo) but that's ok, more power to you for enjoying such an off-beat video! Song: ok Video: Creative! Fun and funny! With a creepy but harmless villain. Good job! :)

for me this music video brought back an element of uniqueness/weirdness we haven't seen in kpop for a long time. groups like crayon pop and orange caramel who were so embracive of humorous and fun-weird imagery were shown as an influence in the mv, and that's why i really appreciate this song and comeback as a whole

I liked this concept from gugudan, and it reminded me of orange cramel too😆! I think it's different concept from the other new groups...
Also check rookie girl group DreamCatcher, , , they have "horror" rock\pop concept, with powerful dance choreography 😆, , , check their latest 3rd mini album Prequel... It has a great collection of rock pop songs 👍

Gugudan has theatrical concept: all their albums are different acts, song are different plays (based on novels, popular stories etc):
Debut - Little Mermaid
1st comeback - (omg I forgot the book name something with narcissism)
2nd comeback - Charlie and Chocolate Factory

With this it's easy to interpret all crazy stuff in the music video, since Willy Wonka was... well XD. Also I think that this big doll is Factory owner?
Chocolate also can have some deeper meaning?
But one is sure: this video is about how AMAZING chocolate is, girls all the time are trying to eat it and this scene with Sejeong (after "kiss" or just Hana giving her chocolate), her mind is taken to different word, space, she's emotional and all crazy video metaphors about her feelings-

React to LOONA! All the solos and title tracks! They are very unique and have an interesting way of introducing their yet-to-be 12 members and I think you would like them!

I agree about the MV being a little bit... out there. I will say that the dance routine to it is pretty nice. lots of levels and positions and transitions. watching the live performances has made the song grow on me a bit.

Im pretty sure they arent gonna stick to a singular sound or concept because their concept is basically having lots of concepts
Thats why their albums are called acts, as if it was a theater
