So, the carbon 14 half life of 5730 years means it can't be used to date the age of dinosaur fossils older than twice that of the half life, or much less.

Allow me to State some massive problems with radiocarbon dating. The decay rates are affected by solar flares. All kinds of radiations can actually accelerate the aging process of radiocarbons and since we cannot currently quantify all the solar flares and radiation that is affecting each element we cannot presume to date things using this method. dating by layers of Earth is also a mistake given that we have seen meteorites strike the Earth causing megatons of Earth to be ejected into the lower atmosphere only to drop down in hundreds of layers over the period of days. We've seen volcanoes erupt that caused multiple layers in hours. Science is still a baby. It needs to grow up still.
