Choosing Benzoyl Peroxide VS Salicylic Acid
Показать описание
Hello, love! Cody here with another skincare video for YOU. Always here to help you have the most healthy, glowing and gorgeous skin possible.
I know its been a hot minute since I've spoken about "BENZOYL PEROXIDE."
So, let's clear the air real quick. Many know that I am not a fan of Benzoyl Peroxide in general. Mostly because it is very irritating, drying, has been known to cause rashes and contact dermatitis, redness, swelling, allergies and major discoloration and pigmentation. Oh and not to mention, it will bleach everything you own. Grrrr.
However, I do use Benzoyl Peroxide on some of my clients who have extremely stubborn acne. I will say that Benzoyl Peroxide is wonderful at minimizing bacteria and inflammation in the deeper area of the skin if you can get through the initial stages of the irritation which can last for months depending on the percentage of Benzoyl Peroxide you use.
However, most don't push through the discomfort because it is too drying and itchy and has been known to cause major purging of congestion to the top layer of the skin.
If you're considering an acne ingredient like Benzoyl Peroxide, might I suggest that you start with using a 2.5% formula first each day then work your way up to a higher percentage if you need to.
Using a 2.5% daily will allow your skin to slowly get use to the BP so it won't overreact when you use it more frequently in the future. You can use 2.5% twice a day if your acne is severe or if your skin is very thick as long as you moisturize very well after each application.
Combining Salicylic acid would be also wise so you can also kill more inflammation.
Start off with a mild cleaner or spot treatment with Salicylic acid to use with your 2.5% benzoyl Peroxide so you can cover all your bases.
I know I've said a lot here today, so please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. As always, #staygorgeous
