Ultimate Guard Dog Weighs 200lbs | TRULY

A DOG breeder from California claims to have resurrected a breed of giant guard dogs, weighing 200lbs. Marcus Curtis, 45, of Riverside, is the proud owner of a 212-pound monster ‘American Molossus’ dog named ‘Old World Sasquatch’. The 18-month-old beast is the result of Marcus’ mission to bring back what he calls the ‘Old World Molossus’ breed; dogs which are said to have guarded the leaders of the ancient world around 5000BC. Marcus told Barcroft Studios: “When people see Sasquatch, jaws drop. People are in shock and amazement when they see these giant beasts.” Marcus now sells ‘American Molossus puppies’ for five thousand dollars, but there’s a long waiting list for one of the rare pups.

I'm no breeder, and I get that most types of mastiffs normally weigh up to 200-300 pounds, but those dogs look overweight. It's not just the looks but the way they walk and sit down, you can tell there's some stress going on on the hind legs. And what you absolutely never want to do is cause stress to the tissues and bones in a large dogs hips and legs by overfeeding them. Knowing how big they get they should've been on a diet from day one. Idk what kind of dog food they use but they absolutely don't need that much protein! It will just cause weight gain and nothing else

You basically took the Neapolitan mastiff, which already has enough problems and decided to ruin it even further by creating this dysfunctional dog. Maybe I'm wrong. Post some working videos, shownyour dogs doing agility work, bite work, anything that requires extreme physical assertion.

The original Molosser was a much more athletic dog than what they're breeding. The modern Neo is a wreck of a dog that could no more guard an estate than mouse. Form must follow function. A structurally sound animal first and foremost is needed then coupled with correct temperament. You can build from that. There is a kennel in Colorado that breeds working Neo's that are some of the best I've seen.

If I’m being honest those dogs are really heavy, I get that the molossus was huge but that’s just too much loose skin! We are suppose to improve breeds not worsen them. The dogs are gorgeous but they need to slim down. Being so heavy and huge is dangerous for the dog. It can cause a lot of health problems for them and it makes them very difficult to breed.
