Sarah Scantlin defied medical convention, when she woke after being in a coma-like State for 20 years. Never before in medical history has somebody been in a coma-like state for so long and started speaking again.

I can't really express what I am feeling. Joy that Sarah came back. That her Parents and Best Friend got to interact and speak with her again. I also feel real sadness for her loss of the wonderful life she was planning. That her Parents felt pain like I can only imagine, and were devastated financially by this event. Her Friend, the loss of her Sister. There one minute, gone the next.
Life can change in a heartbeat. I am reminded to appreciate things I take for granted, the people I love.

I few up in El Dorado and lived in WIchita as an adult institution. I remember this story well! My sister was in a similar accident in North Wichita in 86 and in a coma for awhile as well…it changes you forever!
