Literally just bought a 2016 Altima with a CVT in it 5 days ago. And NOW I’m seeing this video. I hate my life.

Why is everybody so obsessed with gas mileage these days? Personally I say reliability and better performance over 3 more mpg.

Your enthusiasm naming off all the manufacturers that use the JATCO transmissions cracks me up. :-)

My girl just got a 2014 Nissan Altima the thing stopped working a couple days ago and thank God that it has three recalls. We’re getting it repaired for free, then we’re going to go trade it in for Toyota. Something that actually works.

Had a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder with a CVT had no issues with it but I sold it as I watched too many CVT failure videos (and I was out of warranty) and bought a Mitsubishi with a regular torque converter unit. More peace of mind now.

Scotty loves his Toyotas.

I have a 2011 Nissan Sentra with the CVT. So far, I've put 155k on it with no issues at all. I do stay on top of preventative maintenance as I put 100+ miles a day on it. And I get 33 mpg.

Got the new Civic, came with a CVT system. Not a bad transmission in my book, Honda and Toyota seem to be the only brands that make well-built CVTs nowadays. I’m happy with my car, and I haven’t had any problems so far, and that’s good enough for me.

Hey Scotty you prob already know this but found this:
For the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback Toyota created an all new CVT with a "launch gear" or a physical 1st gear from a conventional automatic transmission alongside the CVT pulley. From 0-25 mph the transmission would stay in this launch gear to aid in acceleration from a stop and improve durability of the CVT. After 25 mph, the transmission would switch over to the CVT pulley.

I've got a Jatco CVT in my Suzuki Kizashi. It has run flawlessly for 100K miles now. It is the nicest transmission I've ever had
in a car. Silent, smooth, drama free. I was apprehensive at first with the CVT but have gotten great service from the Jatco in my
ride.
