I'm surprised it didn't take off. SpongeBob is still popular. My kids still watch it after all this time. What a cool find and great idea adding the friends

That sniff while holding the white powder was so good haha. I love your content, it's always fun to see vintage toys and items being brought back to life!
I was too young when the sea monkey craze was happening but my mom always remembers these fondly.

Funnily enough, there's an episode of Spongebob where Plankton actually goes inside a sea monkey tank and attempt to form a monarchy within the sea monkey community lol.

This is something i think steven hillenburg, the late creator of spongebob, would like, especially because he was a marine biologist, and made "The Intertidal Zone" with sponge boy, as an educational way to teach kids about marine biology

Hey guys! If anybody wants one of these kits, there’s currently one listed on eBay 👍 do a search there for “Spongebob plenty o plankton”

The plankton watch strap matching perfectly with the box art is *chef’s kiss* 🤌🏼 also had to do a double take at the resealable bag 😭💀

Wow! I actually had one of these kits as a kid! From what I remember, I wasn't successful when I tried it out, but I was like 7 or 8 at the time... I still have the tank though! Maybe I'll try again some time in the future using sea monkey packets instead...

Two childhood things together seems good

Making the sides of the chest top hollow would be a good way to allow for accessories while keeping the shape intact

Copepods! I love them!! I had caught a single one by accident when fishing bladder snails out of my large tank, and it was fun to watch it go through the different development stages and multiply in the smaller snail jar. They're so tiny, but since I only had the few, I found them really charming.

I wish I had a Spongebob Aquarium like this. Too bad it's discontinued.
I would of loved to buy it for my kids or even as a collector's item.

This was one of my favorite videos, the SpongeBob theme worked perfect, especially after adding the "Plankton".
And it was cool to see success with the original eggs.

Oh, I loved the SpongeBob themeing of this video! It was very cute.
I really like the figurines in the tank. It gives it a ton of life, and im surprised there aren't more licensed sea monkey kits. You'd think this would have sold great!

This is a sweet tank! I’m surprised it didn’t sell well. I love the concept, and I’d love to grow plankton army in this tank, especially if it had all the modifications you’ve mentioned which would accommodate tank accessories.

honestly I think the second sealable plastic pouch is what saved the food, eggs, and salts- if it had only been paper lined with foil I think they would've been done for!

Crazy enough my Uncle had this, growing up I remember seeing it myself when we stayed at my grandmas house. The packaging is exactly how I remember it as well, many memories staring at it thinking I saw something when I most likely didn't haha. I would'eve been 8 years old

What a unique find!! There’s a YouTuber I watch that loves SpongeBob and collects stuff like this! Definitely gonna send this over and hope he sees, it’s so different from everything I’ve ever seen yet makes so much sense as a product

Thats pretty cool, i love all toys that mix life and stuff, theres one that i always wanted that was a star wars triops set that i loved, its kind of a miracle that some of these obscure instant life toys are still in box

Just a note about the Spongebob (and other licensed) betta tanks... PLEASE don't keep any fish in those!! Not betta fish, not guppies, not anything!!! You could MAYBE get away with some snails or shrimp in them, but these tanks are death boxes for fish!! Betta fish need a bare minimum of 3 gallons (I'm being very generous here; most people say the bare minimum is 5 gals), they need a heater, they need filtration, they need places to hide... these tanks really are NOT conducive to keeping bettas in!! Just because a betta can technically SURVIVE in one of them doesn't mean that it's going to THRIVE!!

Love it!!! I would personally put some slits in the back of the lid to put the heater and air pump in cord/tubes. I used a rotary cutting tool to do that on other tops.
