I think the biggest problem is that the game is frustrating to play. Players are not great and have no incentive to play better, participate as a teammate, or even play through entire matches. Players constantly go AFK just to get a “Confirming” message. People last-pick greninja in draft, then do 20, 000 damage and spam thanks; but they are in Masters every season. Players backcap, get KO'd, and we lose Rayquaza, then they get MVP because they scored 100 points. I want to have fun, flex into what my team needs, and improve my own macro and micro play, but it’s frustrating to try and do so. (Anyone ever pick a tank or supporter just to find out that their center Cinderace has no idea what they are doing?)

New content and Pokemon can combat these feelings, but they don't completely counteract them. If the gameplay loop is consistently fun, then players will come back. Content releases are necessary to keep players in the ecosystem, but if the underlying experience is bad, then it's just a toxic/addictive behavior.

My issue with the game is it doesn't reward you for your playtime. It takes a awhile to earn a license for free, there isn't a lot holowear to the game to earn, and there is no new maps or significant balance changes.

There's just no reason to open the game as a dedicated player.
- I hit Masters basically every season. Cool.
- I have basically every pokemon license. Cool.
- I have every emblem (mostly golds). Cool.
- I have a legendary holowear for most of my Pokemon. Cool.
- I have a million tickets and coins but they don't mean anything. Cool.
- I have every held item level 30. Cool.
- I've played the same map every season. Cool.
- We're in Season 582364 and nothing differentiates them. Cool.

Like, what is there? Idk. I've loved this game, but seems like they're putting all their eggs in one basket and the game is in maintenance mode.

I watch content and stopped playing. So many new players came and went during the Mewtwo metas. I was hardcore playing daily but Zacian and Mewtwo back to back was overkill. Lastly, draft shouldn't have been behind the highest level in ranked.

Fun facts:
1. Ranked used to give better rewards including outfits for Pokemon
2. The first anniversary handed out 5 free licenses each with a unique costume (the second gave us 2 which were clones both mewtwo)
3. The develops have routinely put out surveys asking if we want matchmaking adjusted, they have made it go downhill overtime

The hollowears are expensive as hell, bot battles on ranked basically make players fail upwards, the game is extremely unbalanced, the game has too much CC, troll players don't get punished and matches are basically decided by whatever team takes Rayquaza. Zapdos was always a problem and they basically made It worse. Not to mention no new map in basically 2 years and every new Pokémon is released broken. It's a 3 year old game and none of these issues have been solved. It's a hopeless games at this point.

I think letting players know that they’re running the wrong items on their Pokémon would be solid enough already and more healthy to the playerbase than draft

It's "died" multiple times at this point. Also to add on to the setting up a long time in draft, when we go through all of that setup and someone is afk in the start and we have to vote immediately to quit the game

MY FAVORITE PART:

They have voice chat but god forbid you use you to suggest ideas or better ways to pay you get MIC BANNED. They might as well take away voice chat.

If someone AFK’s or FEEDS or clearly does nothing to help to get the confirming message.

All I did was try to suggest players to do objectives or please join team fights. WORST CASE I may get a tad salty and say like please stop hiding in the bush and defend the goals.
This is one of the worst MOBA’s and more based around children and not wanting them to learn or get their feelings hurt.

The last patch Giga-buffing Tyranitar makes me so sad. My husband is has been a Tyranitar main for the better half of the year even though he was such a dodgy pick, and when we found out he got buffed we were so excited, but it was a wish granted by a monkey's paw in that Ttar is banned in every single match now and he hasn't been able to play his favorite dinosaur since. I think we got like two non-draft matches and he instalocked Ttar in both, and that's it.

This has caused him to be really frustrated with the game and hate draft. He's said more than once he wishes we could opt out. If it wasn't for me still wanting to play I'm sure he would have quit a long time ago :(

I feel like the whole "bad early, amazing late" motif for Pokémon designs just doesn't work, at least not with how bad the devs are at balancing. It's such a fine line trying to make a Pokémon's late game just worth the early game slog without it being broken and I have zero faith the devs can find that sweet spot. They really just need to buff the Pupitar phase and let Ttar be a normal amount of good.

Draft is definitely something THIS playerbase wasn’t ready for. There’s no decent team building guide in the game and nobody is punished for doing anything wrong. And it does really take too damn long to get into a game. For whatever reason the main menu screen has been taking longer than ever (genuinely sometimes 3-5 minutes after I click Start) to even get into the Home Screen and by that point I don’t want to sit through a 3 minute draft just to play the 10 minute game. Plus with half of my games someone neglects a ban so it’s like, great we don’t even get THAT.

Another aspect that needs to be discussed is the EX system. It’s AWFUL.

- If you are master rank ranked player, then you get basically no new content when they add a Mon.
- if you are a casual player, they are awful to play against because of how poorly balanced they are.
- if you are a low ranked ladder player, they are awful to play against because of how poorly balanced they are.
- if you are a fan of that Pokémon and want to get good at that Pokémon, it feels terrible, because they are banned at the highest tiers of play, so there’s no point in learning them in a competitive sense.

And WHY can't we get a proper tutorial for the pick/ban system? For a lot of people, this is their first MOBA. I had to Google it just to make sure i understood switch correctly

For me the game has been weirdly stagnant this year. There are fewer releases than usual, not much exciting has been announced and the biggest thing to happen so far was the Miraidon release, which was more dreaded than looked forward to since it was another EX mon.

I agree with this video. I had uncountable amount of games this season where people don’t get their pokemon because someone else on the team or enemy team picks it and they throw the game intentionally instead of quitting. Its a miserable experience. And also in terms of match making, its never been worse. I have had people with 250 games and on numerous occasions had matches where ppl on my team have a total of 10k games (I have 3283) while the enemy team has over 20k games together. Its absolutely ridiculous how large the disparity is in terms of games played and skill.

lol this has been the most fun I’ve had in unite personally. Having bans and no EX in ranked has been a joy to me. I can understand the desire for more shake ups and content though

But for real why ARE the worst players banning? Omg I'm so tired of my teammates banning Cinder or Wiggly. I hate it

I think we need to have a consistent schedule. 1 Solid Sized Balance Patch a month, 1 Pokémon a month, and then 1 small scale event a month. Something like that would be nice, other things like Pokemon Go get updates like that all the time. It feels off that we aren’t getting more? Need new character ideas or something? Here
Flareon: High Power Mid Range All-Rounder. Big burst damage with long cooldowns. Not fast or slow, not frail or durable. Just really strong and mid at all else.

Galvantula - A Supporter who lays down large webs across the map that slow and cause statuses to foes. And actually does decent damage, but is extremely frail.

Marowak - A hard hitting All-Rounder who pulls foes in with Bonemerang then KOs with Brutal Swing.

Luxray - A mighty All Rounder who can leap it and do massive damage and take hits well, but struggles to escape. Has a passive that lets them see people in grass nearby which goes on cooldown after activated.

That’s only a few. Pokémon are SOOOO flexible and unique. It’s not hard to make interesting kits for them.

I stopped playing the week Mewtwo X came out. I wanted to see if it was broken or not, I didn’t return until this month. During that time I occasionally checked in on the news to monitor new content. It wasn’t until Falkinks release was there enough game content to draw me back. The game play was the most fun I had in Unite ladder, gameplay was super balanced and draft was refreshing once I got to masters. Then the wheels fell off and I remembered why I was frustrated with Unite. I was flabbergasted that my emblem builds from a year ago were still optimal.

The the truth is that Unite was how TPC was going to get into China. This phase of the game was inevitable. They were always slow and under delivered, it’s more noticeable with the smaller player pool. It’s unfortunately the MO of Pokémon to reskin, resell, and repackage once they have their hooks on a market. It took the mainline games two decades to innovate on their model with Scarlet and Violet, and once again they under delivered.

I don’t have high hopes for change, but it would be a pleasant surprise if it happens

My issue with the game is how hard they're trying to get you to spend money. I feel like they specifically made the game harder for free to play players. They added a limit to the amount of aeos coins in battle every week, and I feel like they made the process of grinding the game especially tedious to try and get you to spend money to skip the grind. Does anybody else share this problem, or is it just me?

Personally, I quit a while ago mainly due to the matchmaking; I hated that whenever I tried to play in long sessions (of non-ranked), I'd get punished by being on a team that was overall (much) less skilled than the opposing team, almost certainly resulting in a loss. At times, it would be a crushing loss, which lowered my incentive to want to keep playing even more.
