Grounded Theory | Overview

Grounded Theory is a Qualitative approach that let's theory emerge from data. This video is a conversation starter about Grounded Theory basics and shows some examples of axial coding. Coding, categories, and memoing. There a various types of Grounded Theory and two particular popular methods are highlighted.

Provides an incredibly digestible explanation of GT.  GT is not complex, but it is also has to mature in the mind of the user to fully understand (understanding it is as iterative as enacting it).  Video does a great job of distilling the various elements to create a broad picture.  In my experience,  is not overly challenging to teach how it works, but very challenging to impart why it works - especially to push new researchers past descriptive themes.  Appreciate your hard work and the decisions/details that went into this video.  Thank you.

I think at 09:02 is a slight mistake. You said GT is a theory that is grounded in the data. I think the name GT means that it can produce theories which are grounded in the data. So the GT is not the theory itself, but it can produce theories. I am not 100% sure since i am just getting started in this topic, maybe someone could confirm / negate.

Is there any type of GT that would allow you to use the bio-psycho-social model as a way of guiding the enquiry but still use GT as the methodological approach? Also great video!
