On May 28th 2021, Senate Republicans blocked an independent commission to investigate the events of January 6th. Four insurrectionists and five police officers were killed, while 140 officers were assaulted. To date, 1, 265 supporters of Trump have faced charges, with 213 admitting to felonies and 505 to misdemeanors. Sentences have varied from 2 to 22 years.
