Athena Asamiya is the most renowned female character in both our world, and in the King Of Fighters lore.
She is a famous idol and a skilled Kung-Fu fighter with psychic abilities who made her debut in another SNK title: Psycho Soldiers.

In this video, I'll try to explain everything about her, like her idol career, the origins of her powers, and her relationship with Princess Athena.

Wow. I am impressed. I was expecting you to say that she was an annoying character that everyone hates, and I would have unsubscribed right there, but you didn't. Well done. Very well done. And you even mentioned why Athena is my favorite character: "modest and humble", unlike Mai and Yuri...

I think the main reason why Athena avoids Kensou's advances is because she is an idol. Japan has that idol culture where there is a rule that idols are forbidden to be in a relationship. I think Athena does like Kensou, but she does not want to admit it because it may jeopardize her career. I remember a quote from Athena in Maximum Impact where she says "The day my heart belongs to one person is the day I stop being an idol." Athena liking Kensou may also be implied after reading the translated lyrics for "Tachi Bou Ke". I'm going to assume that Kensou will finally confess to Athena when he is able to fully utilize his latent power. Anime tropes and stuff...

I also loved what you did there with the web design image. You mentioned the obvious without making it obvious lol.

Great job. I can't wait to see who you talk about next. As for who I would like to see next? Well...you covered one of SNK's retro characters with Athena. I think you should cover the other one: Ralf Jones. He's going to be a fun one.

That God of War segment caught me totally of guard lol. Also thanks for clearing that mystery of the bikini Athena. Never knew she's implied to be Athena Asamiya's past life.


Also yeah I'm gonna agree with you on her pretending to not notice Kensou's feelings. Heck in SNK Heroines Luong straight calls her out on it for not trying to be honest with him and possibly not being honest with her own feelings. Sure in a franchise with no aging there's no pressure, but she's gotta be honest with Kensou sometime in the future.

Some sources refer to classic Athena's heavenly kingdom as Kingdom of Victory.
Athena also seems to summon/embody the classic version of the character in a super in SNK Vs Capcom: Match of the Millennium for the NGPC.
Also, both the KoF: KYO manga and the animated KoF Destiny series, (and maybe the Athena - Awakening from the Ordinary Life game) depict her as having some ability to read minds... which added to everything else kinda makes her seriously overpowered.
