I was with a complacent guy and I grew to resent and have no respect for him because he couldn’t be bothered to better himself and he resented me because I want to better my life. I’m not going to lie this video triggered me slightly. This was my last boyfriend to a T!!!! He was the “nice guy” sweet, would pump my gas and offer to clean sometimes. But then he would also kick back and smoke weed on my couch all day. He always talked about his future plans but I never once saw him put in any work. He would often get angry when I would tell him to take classes or try something new to better himself. He had a job, but I still often had to open my purse to help or when we went out. Eventually, I started to resent him but he would make me feel like I was a bad person for wanting to leave. Eventually I saw the light (mostly because my dad told me I was dating a 30 year old teenager) and I was embarrassed to have lowered my standards for a man because I saw “potential”. Thank you Chloe for pointing out my mistakes so I can never repeat them again.

This is a word today... the most painful thing to go through as a woman when you invest time, emotions and realize you are in a situation like this. So painful, so frustrating but huge lessons abound. That harsh truth is we waste our OWN time. And once you realize this you will never find yourself in this situation again.

Danm so many men in my family fit that description, I think that’s why the gender role reversal is so prevalent in our community, because the women feel like the only way they’ll reach their dreams is if they start wearing the pants and take the lead because the men sometimes have no ambitions smh
