the trick i'm using is not to trim all four paws at the same time. approach sleepy cat, trim two paws, give him a treat, then repeat twenty minutes later

Sleepy kitty is the best nail trimming kitty! They feel safe, relaxed, not paying you any attention. If they wake up and get agitated, stop, come back later.

I started with 2 claws, give a treat. Another 2 claws another treat etc. then went to 3 claws then treat, then one paw a treat over the course of a couple months. Now they’re totally chill with getting their claws done.

Tip: trim your cats nails while their sleeping. It works for me and my cat doesn't seem to mind. Otherwise just listen to Jackson 👏

i swaddle her in her blanket, having her jackpot treat at the ready. but it's a done deal. so now she is still but I can tell she is not pleased. but then those treats and pets change her attitude. I found by accident that when she is not only snuggled but her eyes were covered during "the deed" helped calm her.

One of my two I sometimes have to have the vet do them, I've managed to persuade her today to have them done at home, I had to give her a break after doing one paw cause she was getting upset, then I went back a few minutes later and did her other paw, got to one claw left before she started growling, bless her <3

I trim my Scottish folds nails and she starts crying before I cut them. It’s always hilarious because when we indeed cut them she doesn’t care 😂

Playing with the cats paws from the time they are kittens and starting that cutting routine as a kitten made a huge difference in being able to cut my cats nails.

Took some time to learn how to trim my cat's nails. She cuddles me when I am reading, so that is the best time, when she is relaxed. No force needed, and she gets treats after.

Honestly, your show is the reason we learned to trim our cats nails. We never thought to give him treats, we didn’t really know what to do, but treats was key. Our fluffy little baby was very food motivated. RIP Tutchka

I keep the treats and the clippers next to each other. When I get them out, she comes running to me even though she knows what's up. She knows I'm going make it worth her while. 😂

I find that cats don’t enjoy it but they know it needs to be done and will tolerate it when it becomes a habit. Just have confidence and always reward.

Half asleep always works, the time my cat started drawing blood for random stuff we clipped them, problem stopped straight away

Ive always trimmed my cats nails. The Vets offices have always been amazed that I trim them myself, which to me is kind of surprising.

I use toe nail clippers and I do it when they are very very relaxed. No issues here.

We have to have my husband holding the cat like a baby while I clip as fast as possible. I’ve never nicked them or hurt them in any way, but both of our cats act like it’s torture.

Treat rewards go a long way. One of my cats though will only do it if I brush him afterwards lol he's addicted to the brush
