Echinacea is a beautiful flower to grow in the garden but can also be used to craft nourishing herbal medicine! Our friend Bevin from Small House Farm shows us how to use homegrown echinacea roots to brew a healthy, immunity-boosting tea!

I also dehydrate and use the flowers and leaves for tea.

A lot of people don't know that you can use the FLOWER instead of the root. It is only slightly less effective and you don't kill the plant.

Something else that you need to know is that you should take something that is a little bit stimulating with echinacia. Something like peppermint. This wakes up the responses the the plant.

What do you do with the cooked roots? Can you puree them and use them for cooking or medicinal use, eg steeped in vodka for an extract?

You should really use a brush to clean off all the dirt, it works better than you think
