Suspension Noise Lower Ball Joint Replacement Cheap Alternative Renault Megane

In this week video we are repairing my own car a Renault megane mk3 2013 but this job also applies to a vast range of vehicles, so going to work i've noticed a lot of noise and squeak coming from the front right suspension, at first i thought it was the strut mount and perhaps the strut mount bearing, but after some investigation we came to a conclusion that the lower ball joint was the problem.

Now the ball joint is fixed to the suspension arm by rivets therefore a whole new arm was needed costing 7 times the price of a ball joint itself, taking in consideration that the suspension arm bushings were fine in this video i show you a cheaper alternative to replace the ball joint only, a little bit more of elbow grease needed😊 but definitely cheaper ... I hope you guys enjoy the video and find it helpful cheers 👍👍👍

Hey everybody, Igor here from Cars Exposed thanks for tuning in.

I will be uploading videos here every week Thursday at 18:30 sharing my experiences working around cars on my driveway, exposing issues, auto repair, auto electric, oil changes, services, projects and more...

Cheers 👍

Omg! Thank you . I have to change the entire arm every year because of the ball joints . 30.000km and they are gone . I have a renault Laguna and i’am not the richest person. Tommorow i will cange my ball joints because they recomanded this at an evaluation (again) . I costs about 300 euros in parts and laboour to change both arms and 40 euros to change the ball joints myself . So thabk you ! Tommorow i know exactly what to do

Just want to say thank you for this video. Really helped show me what I needed to buy and do. Fitted a new TRW ball joint last night and it went great.
Thank you and keep up the good work.

Excellent video. I haven't done a bolt on ball joint for years so was a helpful refresher. Have to do one on my wife's Fluence tomorrow so going to be more confident now. Thanks for the really clear instructions!

For anyone else looking at doing it, may be obvious to some but taking the entire suspension arm off (really easy to do) makes drilling out the rivets really easy.

Oh yeah... she was dry as can be! Older VW's had similar ball joint rivets... I used to just drill the rivet head and knock it off, then tap the remains piece out. Thanks for bringing back those memories! =)

Great job! Need to replace mine also. For now I just shot a bit of grease into shot ball joint. It will hold for two, three days.

Great description, BUT take the arm off. So much easier. Just done this job. 30mm socket 21mm spanner

Nice work!
Same noises happens to me a week ago.
Worst thing is that, in quarantine, you wont get a part so easy now.
So i spray some engine oil with medicine needle through rubber sealant, and its cool now- SLAV fixing things :)

Good video. With my kangoo the balljoint is studded in no bolts. So drilling it then buying the balljoint only and 3 nuts and bolts shall do the job. I always thought had to buy the whole arm.. just a outter balljoint will be very cost efficient fix

Nice work mate. Can't say I've heard a noise like that from a ball joint before. I haven't had much luck with TRW brake pads in the past, didn't seem to last too long.
