It has nothing to do with the operating system; Southwest has never used CrowdStrike. It is the CrowdStrike software (trying to access a forbidden memory address) that caused the crash, not Windows.

even though the problem was crowdstrike instead of windows, it would be cool if airlines had older operating systems as a back up incase something ever goes wrong.

Windows 3.1 could not run CrowdStrike, that's why they were still up and running, but I would sure hate to have to be the person who has to use the computer because 3.1 was very prone to crash, look at it wrong and it crashes. lol
