In Columbus, Ohio police fatally shot an unarmed Black man early Tuesday.

They did not turn on their body cameras until after the shooting.

As a result of the camera's 60 second look back function, the shooting was captured on video. However, the function does not record audio.

Mayor Andrew Ginther said the fact the cameras weren't on when they were supposed to be is unacceptable.

Officers were responding to a call about a running vehicle at 1:30 Tuesday morning. They found a 47 year old man in the garage. At some point the 47 year old started walking toward the officer with a cell phone in his left hand. Officers say his other hand couldn't be seen. That's when one officer opened fire, striking the man. He died an hour later in a local hospital.

To date the victim and the officers involved have not yet to be named.

This comes 2 weeks after law enforcement fatally shot 23 year old Casey Goodson Junior as he was entering his grandmother's home. There isn't any recording of the incident, as the Sheriff's Deputy involved wasn't using a body camera.

Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther spoke with Roland Martin about the horrific shooting and his call for the officer involved to turn in his gun and shield.

Not turning on camera should be automatic jail time

The mayor has spoken. I agree whole heartedly. Change must happen now. We've talked enough. Accountability is n action.

Salute to this Mayor. I wish there were more like him throughout the country who are willing to hold police and police unions accountable.

It doesn't mean shit to fire this guy if he can just go down the street to a new department and work as a cop in a different

Everybody has a cell phone in their hands. It’s almost 2021.Why does that terrify them every time? Or is it just the perfect excuse to execute?

Bad cops will be fired from one department and get hired by another department down the road.

The moment the camera was turned off criminal charges of obstructing justice should've been brought against that Police Officer Involved or Officers present to other criminal charges to follow.
Once charged with a crime their pensions should be rendered towards the settlement to their victims family.

They need to.. They also need to fire that cop in Keller TX who assaulted a man for video recording them across the street from them arresting someone wrongfully. All they did was demote him.. he needs to be fired. Nothing good can come out of him. They also need to ban them from going to the next town for another police job.
