Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that he had signed a decree saying foreign buyers must pay in rubles for Russian gas from April 1, and contracts would be halted if these payments were not made.

Germany, France and Austria refuse to pay in rubles. Keeping up pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and closing all sanctions loopholes must remain a priority, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said.

Cut off the gas, let them feel the same economic war they have waged on Russia

Germans talking about contracts while imposing sanctions and freezing central bank funds
Ridiculous. You'll pay in rubels or you will freeze

I would have turned off the switch a long time ago. EU was spoiled for too long. Developing a self-sufficient economy along with China, India, Africa, Latin America is nothing but good for Russia in the long run.

This is why Putin replaced Medvedev with Mikhail Mishustin way back in 2020. They saw it coming in 2014. The pieces of the puzzle are falling in to place. Bravo Putin. 🇿🇦🇷🇺

So Europe says they will pay in euros. Then they freeze that payment of euros. So effectively they wanted free of charge.

no point selling gas paid using currency that the seller can't use (will be freezed right away). basically they are selling to thieves if not being paid using ruble.

USD and Euros are useless to a country that has been locked out of the financial corridors to be able to cash said currency.

The more you press, the harder it gets, EU politics are completely insane. I believe it’s their last days in power.
