I think that the idea they're going with for the second film is that the Maitlands may have finally moved on from the land of the living. Granted, according to the first film, the 125 year timeframe pointed out that they have to serve is due to the bureaucracy in the Netherworld that existed in the first film. For all we know, that bureaucracy may have fallen apart some time after the events in the first film, meaning that Barbara and Adam may have been able to move on much sooner. At least that's what I'm figuring when it comes to a possible reason why they're not at the house.

I think astrid will get hit going through the tunnel on bike or the mom will unalive herself after losing her husband and its about lydia using beetlejuice to help find a way to bring astrid or her morher back why else would lydia call on beetlejuice again?

Geena Davis would have made a cameo appearance speaking to Astrid Deetz similar to Casper film when Kat’s mom speaks to Casper about being human. Or even ROTJ but Barbara tells Jenna Ortega about Beetlejuice and Lydia runs up the attic and she sees Barbara in over so many years.
