One could also explain the early misuse of the term "Keyblade Master" as the characters not fully understanding what the term implies; happens all the time irl. None of the characters who say it are really familiar with the actual training and discipline that being a Keyblade Master entails, so I think it's fair to assume they just use "master" to say "the person that the Keyblade obeys".

There should be titles called Grand Keyblade Master, Keyblade Knight, and Keyblade Padawan, and maybe even Keyblade Youngling
