I've always seen my self as my true enemy, and the instruction to love even thine enemy, was about loving myself enough to prevent me defiling myself with needless cruelty.

Seeing another person as my enemy is harder, as its only by chance or fate, and I had his or her decisions to make, and their brain to make those choices. I'd probably be doing the same thing.

It's an uphill battle to love thy neighbour if the starting point is them hating you or have already hurt you. But even that is a battle with one's self really, a challenge in being able to see the humanity in others. It helps if you have already incorporated your dark side, or accepted you are but a sinner.

4:23 This is an oversimplification. During the Soviet era, the KGB viewed bishops as being divided into thirds - 1) true believers, who would not obey the Soviet state, 2) earnest Christians, but who could be relied on to collaborate with the state, and 3) the completely compromised.

As for the Russian poisonings, it's possible, although to affirm them means to side with the mainstream media and affirm what they say on the subject as largely true. It's not impossible that this is the case, but we shouldn't do so uncritically. Other respectable analysts, like Mark Hackard, think these narratives don't hold up.

Whether this has substance or not, in a war when the enemy have lost the hearts and minds of its people (in this case the west) then whatever criticisms are aired, it will have little impact!
