Philippe Tremblay from Ubisoft: "Get used to not owning your games."
Me: "Get used to not getting my money."

A long time ago, Star Wars was good and brings light. Before the dark times....

I won’t be buying Outlaws, I won’t be buying the upcoming Assassin’s Creed

I remember the heady days of playing "Rogue Squadron" on the N64 trying to get gold on every mission. Good times. 😀

I miss the days when I'd see star wars in a used book store and my only worry was this lone book, book 2 of a trilogy.

I don't even think this is worth it at 10$

Thanks for the video... This 10-minute video has been making the rounds, with folks complaining about the visuals... The previous videos actually looked somewhat better, which I find funny that someone hasn't done a side-by-side comparison to determine what differences they see between them... When that 10-minute gameplay video very first released, there was a YouTuber who made an observation that this particular video was footage from what appears to be a console system... That YouTuber guesstimates it might be an older generation console system, like perhaps an XBox Series S... Even if that is not the case, it does appear as though the graphics quality of this particular video is not as high as prior game play video releases... Another thing I see very few YouTube videos talk about, is how this game is being developed by Massive Entertainment, even though they are owned by Ubisoft...

The bigger reason this game is a hot topic, stems more from Ubisoft's tiered pricing scheme, and how ridiculous it is... Honestly the prices are crazy high for what you get, and I firmly believe it is strategic in nature... Meant to push you into subscribing to Ubisoft+ rather than outright buying the digital game, regardless of tier... I say this because you get everything the other package deals offer, for about 18 bucks a month... Downside being you will not necessarily own a copy of the game that way... This is what is driving so many folks to scrutinize the heck out of this game... Perhaps not even giving it a chance, just because it's Ubisoft... Only other big issue people are trying attribute to DEI, is the look of the protagonist, which honestly isn't uber horrible, and can always be fixed by someone making a mod for the game... Happens all the time in other games with odd looking characters, someone mods it to look far better... So, for me personally, I do think the pricing is egregious, but I'm far more willing to give Outlaws a chance over the next game Ubisoft is going to put out...

It's far more understandable, the ire being given to Ubisoft over AC: Shadows than what is being levied at Outlaws... Shadows has all sorts of issues revolving around several different controversies, beyond the predatory pricing... Like the in-your-face DEI protagonist, the Chinese buildings instead of Japanese buildings, the theft of a Japanese historical recreation group banner, the wrong plants blooming in the wrong seasons, and the more recent declaration of the two protagonists' options to romance any romanceable NPC regardless of its sex (something AC has been doing for a while and so have lots of other games, long before DEI came along) ... The false historical narrative behind the main male protagonist based off of false historical references... Huge backlash from players in Japan and possible Japanese Government involvement... The list goes on and on...

I kind of think Outlaws is getting pulled into all the AC, and Ubisoft's recent stances on game ownership, drama, when it may or may not deserve it, and is guilty by association... With folks looking for any reason to hate on it, just because of Disney stupidity with SW shows and movies along with Ubi drama... Personally I understand the pessimism, but it's probably the only game coming out before the end of the year, that I'm looking forward to giving a try... I'm a SW fan, and it's not like this game is being made by Disney or for Disney... A majority of SW games tend to be fun, but I believe most of the ire, is just par for the course, due to so many things failing, when it comes to SW entertainment lately... I believe it deserves a chance, even if the hype is perhaps a bit over the top... Ubisoft is desperate for a win right now, which is probably why all the spending... Will it work out for them? Who knows...

Perhaps I'm a bit more forgiving? Dunno, but I don't play Call of Duty games, they have never been my jam... I don't own a console, so those games are off my radar... I don't play any of the multiplayer arena online service games, so I ignore all of those... I've never been into Souls Like/Lite games, so those were off my radar... Only games I've really gotten into this year are WoW Ascension near the beginning of the year (it was generally o.k.), BG3 (great game), replayed a few older games like the Mass Effect series etc., and some other games I got on sale through Steam... For me, the graphics don't need to be top of the line, as long as the game play and story are fun and interesting... Obviously, the price stinks, so I'll probably just sub for a month and if I like it then I might think about getting it later down the line when it goes on a sale, or from a different platform at some point (that's how I got most of my other Ubi games)...

Lol, so there theory is people will buy it because it has Star Wars in the title. They also thought the Acolyte was going to be popular for the same reason .

This is probably going to be a game I'm not even going to get as much as I love Star Wars

The problem is enemies not reacting and having that shitty BattlefrontUpdates idea of enemies taking many shots before going down. I remember when the Battlefront days were around and the dude complainimg about being killed so fast in multiplayer. Now, even in it's broken state, it creates massive faction inbalances.

Star Wars game developers keep using that idea which not only is immersion breaking, but stupid.

More money into marketing and none for development.

That video is Not final footage, we don’t know how old that build was that IGN had and I’m pretty sure that was on like an Xbox. A lot of tubers will be walking back their statements after release. 👍

Had to say it here - Coach, Nick, seriously, how did we even get Cal Kestis? the male lead Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor was a small miracle looking at Outlaws.

I don’t remember the division being downgraded but I do remember it massively happening with watch dogs. Trash company. I thought this was going to finally turn things around for their image, but stupid me.

I think the only game from Ubisoft I genuinely sunk time into was For Honor. Abandoned it a couple of years back and haven't been back since. Vortiger arc was at its best.
