I considered picking up one of these but chose the Chord Qutest instead. The way you described the sound quality, especially the treble kind of makes me wish I would have bought the Matrix X-Sabre Pro DAC. I'm somewhat of a treble head as long as its not fatiguing. I've got one sitting next to me. Looking forward to watching this. I find this DAC to be less engaging than my Bifrost 2, but to have a slightly higher resolution. It doesn't have a personality. It does nothing wrong, but adds nothing.

Dope review - I’m not really even looking for a new dac but it was clear that you know what you’re talking about and explained the best use cases for those who’d be interested and offered alternatives for the rest. That's the reason why I moved to R2R dac. The X-Sabre Pro sounds clean and nice, but it lacks emotion and there is a bit of treble emphasis.

Great review. You hit on something mastering engineers know and I've learned doing that, if any range in the audio band catches your mind's attention, the entire system is going to sound a little less emphasized everywhere else across the entire spectrum of frequencies in the track. Very nice review. I have to agree about Schiit Multibit. I have been enjoying the Gungnir's little brother, the Bifrost 2 for a while now and it is tremendous for the genres of music I listen to.

I am carefull because numbers and names doesn’t mean quality… My reference is the Antelope Pure…less Numbers or marketing but the sound it gives has nothing to compare with commercial dacs…trust me.

I'm considering getting this DAC but It's been on the market for around 2 years? I'm really drawn to the way it looks though. I'm also considering strongly a Topping D90SE and a Gustard x26 pro. Can anyone help me? I like neutrality, resolution and soundstage. Treble doesn't bother me. I've got a hd800s and Verite open. My amp is a GSX mini. Current DAC Denarip Ares 2 and DX7s.

Almost 11 minutes of nonsense. I willing to bet my house you won't by able to tell modern DACs apart in the blind test. This video is worth nothing without measurements.

Sorry. I know this dac isn't for me even without hearing it. Why? Well, we can start with the name "Matrix X Sabre Pro" . It sounds like an infomercial marketing team named it. Matrix? X? Pro? Really?! Did they just grab random popular marketing terms out of a hat? I'm not sure which of these are the worst, but when you string them all together; they definitely bring forth a gag response. THEN, they topped it off by adding both the MQA AND the Hi Rez stickers 😝. All of this comes across as a company that's more into making money than making music sound better. Hard pass.
