Mytek needs an SBooster external linear power supply then it sounds sublime gives you more bass too. I did that to mine. It is very good now.

Thanks for honest and detailed review. So if i want to open up my system, which is leaning a bit to warmish sound, you would recommend Mytek Brooklyn DAC+. I was looking to buy Matrix Audio X-Sabre Pro but since it has slightly rolled off treble region it may not be for me. Maybe Topping D90 would be the right choice?

For Empyrean and lots of rock and prog metal, what do you think about just the Matrix Element X as an all-in-one unit? And that compared to something like the Benchmark DAC3 + a dedicated headphone amp like the THX 789?

Also I'm sure many others are wondering how the all-in-one DAC/amp units compare on their own and not run through a separate amp. Matrix Element X vs Brooklyn DAC+? Headphones plugged straight in, no other amp.

It’s an amazing DAC especially when you connect it to an external linear power supply.

With what filter did you test the X-Sabre Pro? Default #2? Maybe #3 would have a bit more treble?

Great comparisson but would like to get a full review of Benchmark DAC3L (or HGC) with the interface with the HP4.Then I would love to have to test the Linear Tube Audio MZ2 or MZ3 which are supposed to be amzazing.Love your channel keep em coming

I don't know I picked up a really nice little Asian tubes and balanced headphone amp for $100 and it sounds better than my $700 headphone amp

I need a DAC that can operate as a pre-amp and connect to my Krell power amp, and I also need the home theater bypass feature. Hence my interest in the Benchmark. Does any of these other have those features? Thanks, and great review!
