Here are 2 methods of jabbing in boxing, the flick jab and the corkscrew jab. The corkscrew jab is commonly used by power punchers like GGG and Artur Beterbiev. The flick jab is commonly used by technical boxers like Dmitry Bivol and Terence Crawford. In this video, I show you how to throw both. Additionally, you need to be able to throw a standard textbook jab, and I’ll explain why.

Very informative video. But might I suggest trying out a lavalier mic when you film to improve audio quality and eliminate background noise? That way the audio quality matches the quality of your content.

i love the tip of keeping things loose until the moment of contact for the flick jab. But coach, I'm sorry to say I don't really understand the difference btw the flick jab and standard jab

Chris you ever hear about the upperjab? I think I've seen Usyk use it before. It seems like it's used when boxers slip to the lead side and then throw a jab like a long range uppercut that sneaks under the guard.

Awesome vid, what are your thoughts on Lennox Lewis/Larry Holmes flick jab where they rapped with their knuckles, never using a fist? Iirc, they used it to change the speed/look of their jab off of the power jab?

hey coach, i have a question for you regarding stiff/strong/hard/power jabs... i know that you studied under jeff mayweather. have you seen the video or the short of floyd throwing strong jabs at the heavy bag? if not, check it out if you can. what i'm getting at is that a most of the power jabs thrown by boxers that aren't out of the former soviet union don't use the corkscrew. what technique(s) do you recommend for strong jabs that aren't cork screw style? I went to montell griffin's gym for awhile and some people said the stiff jab is the only jab you go into with a ready to flex a bit earlier mindset... but it eats energy... i would love to hear your input on other stiff jab approaches. also, any content at all that can pass along jeff mayweather wisdom would be amazing!

ps. i know jeff teaches to pivot the front foot on the lead hook to beginners... i was giving you stick in a non serious way... but later i thought "hey, this dude doesn't know me or my sense of messing around... what am i doing?"... my fault man, i forget the internet next has no context or inflection behind it. anyways, keep up the great work!

Coach, few weeks back i hurt by eblows and it was due to overextnding my elbows while jabbing, so i started to rotating my shoulders and it looks some what like corksrew since my palm faces outwards, so its scary for me to even consider flicking my jabs
