man the dad kidnapping his own daughter was crazy. the poor Groom had to have thought she left him at the altar only to find out she had been drugged and kidnapped bu his future father in law, the rollercoaster of emotions he must had had on finding that out. i'm so happy she's ok and that they've rightfully gone no contact with the dad.

Regarding the 24 hour rule: in the 1970s, police departments in the USA had various time periods before a missing persons report could be filed. Nowadays, both in the US and Canada, police departments urge that missing persons be reported as soon as possible since every second matters. TV and movies, unfortunately, have continued to tell people it's a thing.

As an 86yo woman with a thick Southern drawl, I find it hilarious when others try to imitate it. As the saying goes, 'imitation is the best form of flattery'.
Edited to add: In the US, the 24 hour rule has been abolished. If you report someone missing, and you're told to wait, call the FBI!! I contacted them via email to make a report 3 years ago, and within 15 minutes they called me. It wasn't even an emergency. I had just seen a very alarming post online, hence the email vs calling. They are very quick to respond.

PSA - Don't put people in headlocks when they're drunk to try and subdue them. Someone I know once did that to his friend trying to get him back into the car so they could go home and not get into trouble, but unknowingly his friend's BAC was almost 0.30! at the time. His body shut down and he died. Person I know was devastated. Obviously didn't mean to do it. Ended up spending some years in jail. AKA: just like punching someone in the face, don't trust movie moves in trying to control a situation, even with the best intentions.
