Yes got to give Foley credit where its due the most concise explanation /tutorial on hitting fairway woods I have ever seen and perfectly logical from a physical science perspective if you have the savey and commitment to apply it, thanks Sean.

I must say, I've been watching countless amounts of videos on "how to properly hit woods", and this was the best explanation. The idea of keeping your swing similar to your irons and adjusting your stance rather than focusing on sweeping the ball, as a non-professional, has sincerely helped me. Sweeping the ball is a bad image for amateurs indeed! Thanks!

Thanks, I always got the idea that you were not supposed to take a divot and just pick the ball. I ended up with two swings, one for my woods and one for everything else.

Good lesson for eighty. Not so much for lefties. He should have used the terminology " trail" and " lead"

The idea of 40 percent of yr weight on yr rear foot would help many of us with the dreaded sway. Great advice, I can tell you what I have been trying isn't working so I am down for something new. Thanks I corrected this post.

Gave up on the 3W and put a 3H in the bag along with a 5W. I'll hit a 3H with 200+ carry and maybe a 225-230 total. Add that to a usual 250-270 yard tee shot and I can get close to par 5's in 2. Short chips close gets me a birdie.

My works too. Used woodprix handbooks and build it with no problems.

Theory is reasonable, feasibility is not so

If you apply this descending blow with insufficient club head speed, even with a solid strike, you will still have a low ball flight. That's why seniors and women can't get a 3 wood in the air - less than 80 mph club head speed = a life of worm burners. Of course, this isn't news to you other old-timers but I thought Mr. Foley ought to know the facts of life.

The track man is total bs. It reads the ball flight. Then assumes the club did something.
