Ever wonder what Fish look like on your sonar? In this video Tim takes you along with his Humminbird Solix and shows you what fish look like. He breaks down the basics of today's Sonar units including; Understanding your unit's transducer, how it works, and the "Cone Angle". All of these factors are important to painting a complete picture of what is below your boat.

Most default frequencies of today's transducers are 200kHz. At this frequency, the bottom area that the sonar is covering is approximately 1/3 of your overall depth. An easy number to remember is at 30ft deep, your sonar is scanning 10ft wide.

Here is the gear Tim is using...

Your comment on buying expensive things and not knowing how to use them sums me up perfectly. Got a helix 7 chirp/di/si/GPS and have no idea what I'm doing. Videos like these help a TON. Thanks Tim, please more electronic videos soon

Well I haven’t looked at the comment section yet, but you answered a lot of questions I had.

I’ve been to several major fishing schools and no one talks about sonar ... except for the offshore guys that say “look for that 6” rise on the bottom.”

Then I feel stupid asking questions like I’m driving a Corvette and asking someone how do I put it in gear.

Any rate - thank you for your time making this video.

Thanks for an actual demo of the unit in action, not just demo mode as most other YT channels.

Thank you for this informative video. My son and I just got our first sonar unit and this is the first video I have seen that gives clear, concise definitions of what we are seeing on our basic 2D sonar.

That was great! You answered a lot of my questions, especially how wide the cone is. Reading sonar is a learned skill. I have found that reading it then catching fish has made a huge difference in my confidence. I hope this video has helped me break into that second level of understanding.

That was awesome. I got one of those Deeper Pro things to keep track of all the ponds I fish and learning how to read the sonar is what they recommended. Nice work.

THANK YOU‼️ Although the video was from a year ago, it answered many questions I had about how to read my Solix 10 SI G2. Please continue to do more informative videos like this! I'm now a subscriber to your channel.

Correctly reading electronics can be the single biggest game changer in catch more fish and learning more about the the way bait and bass move through out the year. The single biggest fish catching investment you can make. Thanks Tim.

Make a video on how to fish based off what u see on the graph. Are the fish straight down, to the left of the boat, right of the boat. Where do u cast based off the reading on the graph
