Exploring North Dakota: Jamestown & Bismarck to Belfield? You Betcha!
(EPISODE 302)

ℹ️ About this episode:
After leaving Fargo in last week's video, we headed to Jamestown and Bismarck, North Dakota. Our first stop was the North American Bison Discovery Center, also known as the National Buffalo Museum, where we spent the night. This location is part of the Harvest Hosts membership, offering RVers a free stay with a beautiful view. But that's not all!
We discovered several unique places and historical spots on this trip as we made our way to our final destination for the weekend. Be sure to watch this video all the way through to catch all the details of these unique stops and tips we share.

There was a white buffalo calf seen in Yellowstone National Park in June of this year. There were pictures taken of it but it has not been seen since.

We are on day 45 of a 59 day Adventure Caravans Tour of the Canadian Gaspe Peninsula and Atlantic Provinces in our 2018 Tiffin Allegro RED. Today we toured the L’anse aux Meadows historic site in Newfoundland, where the Vikings established a trading base 1000 years ago that lasted 10 years before they abandoned it. It is a Parcs Canada national site. When we were leaving, we spotted a Grech Strada Ion AWD in the parking lot, the first Grech Strada Ion we’ve ever seen in the wild! It had Maine, USA, license plates. Can’t wait to get our Strada Ion next year.

It's nice you enjoyed your time at the Frontier Village. We live near Jamestown. Kuchen is something I grew up loving and eating. My mother made the best ones. I, too, have made them and while they aren't as good as hers, they are pretty good. The crust is similar to a bread dough. There is no cream cheese in kuchen. It is a custard made from sweet cream, sugar, and eggs. We like ours topped with small pieces of fruit like, peaches, raspberries, or rhubarb.

Kuchen is a custard base also using cottage cheese in many. I love the peach kuchen. I make it myself just like I make rosettes, lefse, caramel rolls, krumkake etc. A lot u don't see anywhere else or not often!

Hey Brian and Michelle, always love the videos. Just FYI on Dickey’s BBQ. They started years ago in Dallas and well known for great food when original owners had it. They were bought out and franchised. Food is horrible compared to original. My wife and I loved it back in the day. But we won’t eat at these new ones.

Thanks for sharing another excellent adventure. A trio of “world’s largest” this week and local history. Looking forward to the national park. Plenty of bison there for your viewing pleasure. Stay safe, stay well. See ya next week.

Bryan another great video. I love the information on the history. I’m writing down these places for our future travels. We like the offbeat quirky stuff like the big cow.

Michelle, the best pie in ND is at the cafe in Tower City, on the interstate, east of Jamestown.

Welcome to North Dakota, you should drive west on highway 200 when you get to Beulah and go through the roundabout continue west and about 3 to 4 miles look north and you will see the largest coal dragline in North Dakota, ran completely on electric power
