G-23 Goes After The Gandhis: Shashi Tharoor, Mani Shankar Aiyar Join The Dissenting Congress leaders

"The Congress party's debacle in the 2022 assembly election came as the latest jolt to the party. The party had thought that it will at least be able to Retain Punjab and be able to win back power in Goa and Uttarakhand but much to its surprise, the AAP wrested power in Punjab from under congress' nose and BJP retained power in Uttarakhand and Goa despite anti-Incumbency. the Party's humiliating defeat has now activated the famous Group of 23 leaders of the Congress party, known as G 23, who had called for an organizational revamp in the party. Interestingly enough, the G23 leaders are very seasonal. They are hardly seen during election campaigning but after the party's loss, they come out, mostly to issue statements, call for changes in the party, give some media bytes and then going back again to square 1.
After the Congress' recent defeat the party organized Chintan Shivir to introspect on the reasons for its defeat. The CWC meeting chaired by Sonia Gandhi also saw some heated exchange, although the members eventually issued a statement unanimously reposing their faith in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi. However, a new controversy was stoked with the statement of senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal. In an interview to Indian Express, Sibal had said that the 'Gandhis should step aside from the leadership role and give a chance to someone else to lead the party.

In national political parties, leaders have to be regularly elected by the masses and members within the party.

When one family dominates a political party it becomes a monarchy and not democracy. This is when the party starts declining.
It is high time Congress held inner party elections well before August to provide some challenge to BJP in the coming state elections.
Or else, we should be prepared for splintering of existing congress into several regional parties and many Congress leaders joining existing political parties. This will lead to the death of Congress party.

In 2004, Sonia Gandhi had the mandate to become PM, but her 'inner voice' prevented to accept and all appreciated.
In 2009, Rahul had a chance to become PM, but he also not accepted, and some people appreciated.
In 2014, faced a historic defeat, but the leadership was never questioned.
In 2019, again faced defeat, and Rahul took the responsibility and quit the party presidentship. Temporary arrangements were made to lead the party. There was no discipline in any of the state units, and resulted in severe infighting. The so called high command was mere observers.
Now 2022, a defeat which is so disgusting happened, and if someone questions the leadership, is it not okey..
High command, CWC, AICC and all supporting office bearers should take responsibility. I support the arguments put forth by G-23.
