New to Tattlers? I'll walk you through the basics of using them. There is a bit of a learning curve to using them and there was no one around to teach me how when I first got them years ago. I had many failures and got discouraged. Trial and error taught me how to use them and I've learned a few tips and tricks along the way.

When I was learning my new pressure canner, I canned pinto beans. That way I wasn't going to be upset if I had a fail. I would do the same thing with the Tattler lids. I was afraid to try the Tattlers but I will be trying these now. Thank you for another great video!

What an excellent tutorial Ms. Mickie! I just ordered some tattler lids and will be using them for the first time. I have saved this video of yours so i can refer back to it as needed. The way you explain "finger tight" for the screw bands is first rate! Thank you so much, i appreciate all your knowledge and experience 🙏🙂

I bought Tattler lids and gaskets about 2 yrs ago and haven't used them. I was using up my lids hubby bought for me. Mostly Ball. Now I have seen forstar lids and rings that are stainless. They are finding a place in the USA to make them, but right now they are made in China. So far so good. Thank you for the info so I can try mine out. Harvest lids were selling the reusable lids and gaskets during covid and now they are not doing well with them. I would not buy them. Go to Tattler, I bought a ladle from them and it broke and messaged the and sent a new one.

Well, I guess I better learn how to use tattler lids as soon we may have no choice. I do like that they have long life reusability. To save the metal rims I only use them in the canning process then remove them once the lid has sealed. After opening a jar I use the plastic lids that screw on, I think they are still available. My fear with Tattler lids is the process of tightening a scalding hot jar of liquid, it just seems very dangerous. To ensure my safety, I will be wearing protective silicone gloves and a towel over the jar to tighten lids. This will be annoying but again, we may have no choice. I do like that Tattler lids for their easy opening. I still have glass lids and rings which are a pain to open, as for tin lids I do not like throwing them away, but Tattler lids are easy and reusable which is nice.
Thank you for this informative video and happy canning!

That spilled out jar might have been the jar lifter was not under the edge of the glass of the jar. It should (as you know) be lifted from the glass under the edge not lifted by the band. Nice review and the ring flipping is nice to know about.

Thank you. Great information. I've considered getting tattler lids but I haven't done so yet. I don't can as much now, as when my family was home.

I tried Tattler lids a few years ago and then invested in a large order of them after testing them out and deciding I wanted to have them as a back-up. Overall, I definitely prefer the metal lids. I have had several failures with Tattlers. I had read about adding a 1/4" headspace to the jar and that seemed to help, but I still have failures in almost every batch. I've even had one jar that had sealed with a Tattler lid come unsealed in my pantry and I was horrified. I'll have to pay closer attention to the cross-threading issue. Thank you for the tips! I wanted to love Tattlers but I get very frustrated with them.

Do you still leave your jar in the canner 5-10min before pulling out? Then let them sit for 3-5 more minutes before tighting? Or do you take out right away and let them sit 3-5 ?
