8/10 was very generous. As an Indian habitual to this, I'd still give it 4/10.

The only reason I avoid train travel in India is because people don't have any washroom manners and don't use those facilities mindfully

8/10 seriously??? As an Indian I would rate that 6 at most

I have travelled in European trains a few times and let me tell you, she giving an 8/10 for our train journey is extremely generous.

Very very generous rating of 8/10...as an indian I wont be surprised if you rate it 1/8 😄....we need more visitors like you who take anything as adventure.

No matter which class and which train you book in India, the toilet always stinks, I love to stand near the train door but the smell kills the mood.

As an Indian, i have always been motivated to work hard, so that I can always afford to travel by plane. 😂😂.

You're still so generous enough to describe it like this.
Our train quality, especially for first class I've heard was extremely good back in the 90s or early 2000s..
They had THE quality.
Well served dishes with noodles, sandwiches and whatnot.
Now, it has deteriorated so damn much.
Needless to say, I've beautiful memories of my childhood in those trains and I've always loved the sound of it.
But yes, as I grew older, I started paying more attention to the journey rather than the destination (I only used to be concerned with cleanliness of my train beds and how fast I'll reach my destination).
Now, I don't dislike it but yeah, cleanliness sucks here.
I'd still choose the railways though.

The Indian bathroom is the squatting toilet and the western one is the sitting toilet

In my 22 years of life in India let me say I've ridden a lot of trains and 8/10 is extremely generous comparing it to other international train services in terms of comfort and hygiene. But ig the latest Vande Bharat has high standards though I personally haven't travelled in one yet.

I remember not eating a lot while on the train here that was 36 hours long (one way and I did that twice) just so that I wouldn't go to the washrooms. Yeah 8/10 seems pretty high 😂 and I've been in this country all my life.

As an indian living in Singapore and previously lived in Japan and Dubai, I would give this 1/10.
India still had a lot of catching to do, in terms of train quality and hygiene.

I rarely use toilet in indian railways 😂
Back when I was a kid i used to go from Delhi to banglore in a 36 hr train journey so I always used to poop at my home and then poop after reaching Bangalore, which let to stomach problems sometimes

Never had the courage to do it in train😂😂

The Indian bathroom is basically just a ground-level commode. You have to squat to use it. If you're travelling, always use the Indian option, if available. It will help prevent UTIs because it reduces contact with exposed surfaces.

If the conditions of the first class toilets are this bad, just imagine the other ones.

First try asking TTR to clean the bathroom if they don't do it in next 2 hours just go to Indian railways grivence portal and choose hygiene and put a request to clean the toilet and then they'll clean it within next station. Works all the time
