Traxxas X Maxx 8S ANY FUN on 6S?? UNPLANNED 6S TOP SPEED Run & BASH!!

Unfortunately the first time I went out to get the 8s top speeds of my XMaxx’s the battery died before I could complete the runs on all three rcs. So I had to film that video over two different days but at the end of the first day I decided to try a 6S pass once my 4s packs died. Wasn’t planning on running 6S but I had a couple 3S packs charged and that’s all I had left so I thought “why not put the gps on and get a top speed run?” And then “go out and bash it?” The speeds were nothing super exciting. I was running an 18t pinion 50t spur gear with 1200kv Velineon Brushless Motor and VXL-8S ESC.
My answer to the question in the title is “yes” and “no”. If you’re used to running 8S then going back down to 6S is a bit disappointing. The low end torque is still there and it can wheelie from a stop but doesn’t have the power to do a sustained wheelie like on 8S. But starting out on 6S is a nice warmup to 8S and it’s easier on the tires, electronics and drivetrain too. It still has good acceleration but it reaches the top speed very quickly. Probably the biggest issue with running 6S is that you can’t get the wheel speed you need to lift the front end when you’re jumping it. It tends to nose dive and you have no way to recover if it does. It is fun but it doesn’t compare to 8S. 8S rocks!!!
