Omar A. Human Biology

Omar Abduljaleel believes that everything happens for a reason. He originally enrolled as a mechanical engineering major and it was a chance job shadow opportunity at a local hospital that inspired him to switch to pre-med. His long-term career trajectory is to work in neurosurgery. But he had his doubts about whether changing his major would be worthwhile or a mistake. An advisor encouraged him to take this chance and Omar is glad to be on a path he was meant for. He even plans on graduating a semester early before applying to medical school. Omar holds a leadership position in the Student Body President’s Office as the student representative to the Board of Trustees. Outside of class, Omar works as a direct support professional and interprets for Arabic speakers in hospitals, clinics, and juvenile court. He’s also a passionate TRIO scholar, and is thankful for the support he’s received from the advisors looking out for him along his academic journey and beyond.
