I really appreciate your ability to mimic the sounds of the frequencies you're treating. Helps me to begin hearing them. Great work, as always!

Joe, the way you make these videos, i feel like we're close friends or something man. huge props on being an effortlessly excellent instructor

I've seen many vocal EQ presentations but this was without one of the best explained using fundamentals to clearly demonstrate benefits but more importantly it was easy to follow and therefore apply for even relatively inexperienced mixers such as myself. Thank you: very much looking forward to trying this on current project

Heartfelt thank you! I am a musician dealing with the learning curve of Studio One and loving your tutorials. The music is the easy part....

Excellent video!! My favorite bits were you vocally articulating the problem area "sounds". That just hits home and I can certainly relate and understand. Great job.

Dear Joe I'm 55 and Studio one is my first DAW ...I'm learning everything from you. I was just thinking about your songs and particularly how' Fighter' has so muchlikability although from your perspactive I'm sure youve moved on to your newer material, anyway I was thinking of the Rolling Stones song Time on my hands and thinking I wonder if they ever thought about fixing the out of time tamboureen. what do you think. do you think we spend too much time critiquing ouselves rather than just moving on to the next big hit. thanks for all the free and wonderful advice my friend. peace be upon us the way i know this didn't scan that well. oh well...]

Watching your videos makes me realize how little so many other channels actually know. I was listening to someone give advice on how to EQ vocals from a guy who had very muddy audio.

Very helpful, Joe. Thank you! Coincidentally I'm working on a vocal right now and I'm certain this will help

its funny how well u can imitate the problem frequency. especially when u whisteled the frequency 😂😂😂 i was blown away by how accurate u were in key

This is a really good thing to do on every track before you actually start mixing. I did it on my latest song, and when I cut those shitty frequences, the whole song sounded dramatically, though subtly better, without any real mixing done.

I have watched tens of videos just on EQ-ing vocals, this was the most helpful one.

Love ya, Joe, but everything was fine with my vocal tracks until this video pointed out that...well...they're not fine.

You're the man.

This is exactly what I struggle with evert time I record my voice. Thankyou for what you do.

Joe, you're very good at zeroing in on the proper cuts. But, it would be more demonstrative for those beginners to novices if you could let the problem area you hear play a bit longer to illustrate the frequency(s) you're focusing in on.

Super helpful video Joe! I've stopped using the "boost and sweep" Eq move since I heard Warren Huart say "every frequency sounds awful if you boost it 15db!", (although he did say, if you can kinda hear the area where the problem is then yeah do it). I can imagine this great vocal piece after Marc Daniel Nelson has added a lush reverb! Have a nice day Joe!

I’d love to see studio one include at least a barebones de-esser within their fx pack.

What a super helpful video Joe thank you! You have a knack of sort of just taking us by the hand and guiding us along so we know what it is we're listening for before we just start cutting a bunch of frequencies and hoping for the best. For the recordings I work on the lead vocalist is a lady with a very powerful higher end voice (think a bit of an opera type voice) so the frequencies I deal with are very different than the ones for you but the principle is the same and what you taught me here will help tremendously. You're awesome thanks!

All of the youtubers who make videos on mixing and mastering have literally changed my life and alot of them are younger than me lol
