I heard to test if the water pump is working correctly all you have to do is hold (pinch) the upper radiator hose and Rev the engine, and if you feel pressure in the hose then the water pump is working correctly

Hey thanks man great technique! I will try this but I don't have the funnel. I saw another guy do a variation where he puts the return line of the coolant tank into the coolant bottle and revs the car. If no coolant comes out = faulty pump or blocked coolant system. Question : My car starts to slowly drip coolant after 30 mins idle. Location of drip is near my right mudflap. It does not drip at startup it takes about 30 mins to start dripping. Would this be a small hole in the hose OR a bad seal or gasket? I would suspect a faulty pump would leak asap on startup but I'm not sure. Because I'm trying to determine if it is the pump or maybe a bad hose etc etc. Thank you. EDIT: My steering wheel is on the right side.

Ive got a 99 acura cl 3.0 that keeps overheating and leaking out of the overflow when its hot. Ive done thermostat. A flush, fixed potential leaks and a new egr valve cause the engine light turned on popped up as PO401. Its still overheating tho. Is it gonna be the heater core or head gasket if umits not the water pump?

okay- so the car overheated, about a month after replacing the thermostat (previous definitely wasn't opening). no substantial use of coolant. Checked the hoses, both are pretty flat, i can easily "clap" them together as you said, just squeezing with finger and thumb. I did the funnel test, and it did bubble up while revving the gas....even though both hoses are still really flat. This is a 2005 Civic. What do i check next?

Hey buddy, I was taught that when rev’n the engine the coolant flows and level drops a tad then rises back.
Once thermo opens, pulls coolant threw..

I just put a new radiator and fans on my van. When my car idles for more than 5 minutes the tempature will spike but as soon as i turn the car off and let it sit its fine. It will not spike as long as im constantly moving. Possible cause?

what if you don't have a cap in the radiator? there's only one cap at reservoir

Bought 04 element
Pulled thermostat and dropped in boiling water and it opened up.
Put back together and this happens. Only normal operating temp. When I pull funnel and put cap on it will overheat.
My fans aren’t coming on either but they have been tested and work

My thermostat goes up and down while driving and when I take cap off reservoir it makes a air pressure sound then the antifreeze fills up like it burps what could that be
