IN THIS VIDEO:
What are you those floaty things in your eye? A large portion of people experience floaters or spots in their vision. Dr. Guymon explains how these floaters appear in your vitreous humor, the gel filled portion of you eyeball. This vitreous can shrink, causing floaters, a posterior vitreous detachment (pvd), and sometimes cause more serious conditions like a retinal detachment. Are eye floaters dangerous, have you been seeing flashing lights in your vision? Dr. EyeGuy will go over eye floater symptoms, the causes of eye floaters, who gets eye floaters, when are visual floaters dangerous, and if there is any eye floater treatment. Dr. Guymon will mention vitrectomy surgery as well as yag laser to help treat floaters. Included in this video is an eye floaters simulation as an example. Eye Floaters will be explained in detail. Future videos will include how to get rid of eye floater facts as well.

I didn't notice my first floater until age 60. I noticed a floater in the other eye two years later, which was recently. I was blessed to have a retinal eye exam just the other day by a retinal specialist. He says as long as my vision doesn't bother me, and I can see well enough, I'm fine. He told me all the things to watch for. The doctor that diagnosed my first floater two years ago told me to roll my eyes to change the position of floaters. Also, my brain seems to somewhat ignore them.

Thanks, Doc. It's really enlightening. I have this comet shape, gray shape in the right side of my right eye. However, it started to dissipate in a week, but it is still there. I will see an eye doctor as you said. Thank you for the big value of your content. I am less worried now.

Probably the best video about the topic! Those examples really made the situation clear and understandable. I firstly noitced my floaters some years ago. At first it was a bit sad, but then i understood that this is a normal way to see the world: a lot of people have them, but many don't notice them.I have even heard of people realizing they have them only after their doctor told them (lol)! All of my house's walls are white, so sometimes its a bit distracting..Are your floaters visible indoor too?

Thank you for this informative video, I had cataract surgery back in January 2024 left eye fine, right eye went blurry in 4 days! I was experiencing those white spider web flashes in both eyes. My doctor had me come back end of April 2024 to do a YAG procedure on the right eye for the blurry vision, however next day the spider web flashes are now a large cloud like grey blurry swipe that goes across my eye when I move my eye from right to left and the swipe goes from left to right in my eye, very annoying especially when driving and in yard outside which never was the case with just the smaller web like flash, so I cancelled the YAG for the left eye and he sent me to see a retinal doctor who told me that I have posterior vitreous detachment and gave me no advice as what to do about this large blurry cloud like swipe that goes across my eye. I am so so sorry that I had that YAG done as it has made my vision worse eye is just as blurry and now I have the swipe thing every day with every movement to my eye!!! Any suggestions? Thanks!

I had floaters and flashes in my eye when I had Anterior Uveitis. The inflammation was so bad that I ended up with a swollen eyeball. I went to the eye doctor within a week of the symptoms appearing.

I just had strabismus surgery on both eyes about 20 days ago and a few days ago, I noticed floaters and flashes in my right eye. I went in and got them checked out. No retinal tear or detachment but I do have an area of lattice degeneration around the 10-11 o’clock area of my eye. I will be having another check up and my final post op in September. They sure are annoying!!

Ive never put attention to the floaters when I was on my early 20s. I mean I would see 2 or 3 floaters and will not pay attention to it. So as the time passed 7-8 years, my floaters increased significantly.
I wish I knew about floaters way before they started to bother. I still have hope that floaters can be treated in a natural way.

I remember I first saw one when I was in third grade, laying in a field during recess, looking up at the sky. I couldn’t explain them to my peers, so I sounded crazy to them, lol.

(Also, I’m far sighted, so I have no idea if I’m special or not)

Nowadays I only see them when I squint at a ceiling light or when looking at the sky
