Before we can talk about human rights, it is important to understand two concepts: law and rights. In this lesson we will talk a bit about these topics and a few others.

If we have a "right" to speak, but not the "duty" to make people hear us, it seems we would never speak thus loose our freedom to speak or our right? People can ignore us, and not answer, yet we should have a right to say it?(Whatever "it" may be?) So this confused me? Could this be explained a little more? Thank you.

Instead of putting "Dharma"as an example of rights you can put religion for every society has some conceptual rights originated from their religion and you narrowed it into only Buddhism or Hinduism.

negative law = others hands off you; positive law = others hands upon you; natural "rights" require no 3rd party input, eg; you have the right to speak BUT you have no right to an audience, eg; in exercising your "rights" you cannot force any-other to participate; "positive" rights would be best defined as privileges or licensed actions and are contrary to freedom...
