It's the summer of 1978 and Alan "Fluff" Freeman is just coming to the end of his Saturday afternoon rock show.
Picking up, after the 5.30pm news, is Robbie Vincent with Radio 1's Soul Show - all in stereo on the shared Radio 1 & 2 FM network while Radio 2's long wave transmitter carries "Sport on 2".
It's 12 years before the launch of Radio 5 (August 1990) which would take the BBC's radio sports coverage away from Radio 2.
