Well explained, thanks! This mirrors my own experience with my 2013 Accord. I am a very gentle driver, so with Econ turned off, I can achieve the same, or sometimes even better, fuel economy compared to when Econ is turned on.

I don't know much about cars but I believe it's just throttle response when on eco mode. If someone is constantly breaking and accelerating it wouldn't help.
