Freaky garden eels

They're also very shy! During COVID, because of the lower influx of people going through the aquarium in Tokyo Skytree, the eels started to become scared and hide from humans, so much so that the aquarium actually urged people to video chat with the eels to get them use to humans again!

I went on an aquarium date with my boyfriend and went we were walking up to these eels in the exhibit, a stranger just says “they’re the crackheads of the sea”and walks away. My boyfriend and I couldn’t stop laughing and I haven’t forgotten about it since.

There's an aquarium near me that has some of these eels. Whenever I go there are usually 4 or 5 of them hanging out near the front of the glass and I like to imagine them as being in a barbershop quartet or quintet.
