my Examiner used a car
he told me to ride as normal..
this was in London, I lost him within minutes of leaving the test centre..
I could hear him occasionally over the radio but for the most part I was on my own.
I made loads of mistakes, and I hadn't a clue what the speed limits were. I ambled around until I heard him on the radio, he apologised and followed me round and round a housing estate where I rode terribly..forgot to indicate, put the wrong foot down when I stopped, hesitant in fact I was chuckling to myself about the whole shambles but thinking that next time I'd know what to expect...and then went back time the test centre..riding back to the test centre I didn't care, I knew I'd failed and massively at that, I just stumbled back..didn't bother with proper observations, just glanced and rode.
Anyway, got of the bike and saw the Examiner, he looked frazzled and cheesed off. followed him to the small office and he said I'd
Could NOT believe it.

Hello, I just wanted to say thank you. I passed my Mod 2 today. During CBT, Mod 1 and Mod 2 training, your videos have been invaluable to me. I'll continue to watch them and learn from them as I begin biking on my own. My instructors radios rarely worked correctly and the training sessions were no where near as good as the car instruction I had earlier in the year. I put getting the details right and passing Mod 1 & 2 first time down to these videos. Thank you!

Passed! ....thank you ever so much Russ, I firmly believe your videos played a BIG part in me passing Mod2 today. I've not had a single bike lesson so all I had to go by were your videos and they helped immensely. Keep up the good work.

I'm not from the UK - so I don't know how the system exactly works but I assume that the examiners are doing pretty much the same.

What I found is that a LOT of people take the exam too early. I myself put down ~7000km/~4500miles before I took it. It was that point where I noticed that I have no troubles at all with the mechanics of my motorcycle in standard situations and that shifting smoothly and viewing techniques became automatic. My examiner told me that he didn't have such a pleasant ride in awhile and I got the licence in my first try. I've seen people taking the exam after less than a 1000km and then wondered why they failed due to "improper control of the vehicle".

In my opinion you should rather go out and bring some more kms under your belt. Additionally working on specific areas of your riding is advised. But that's just me :D

I've just gone through a few of your VLOGS and I felt addicted to watch more. I especially liked the one about the Student dropping the front end before his Module test, and also think that you reacted amazingly. Well done, keep up the good work!

Can't watch enough of these videos, you have a really relaxed way of explaining things, a pleasure to watch.  I passed Mod.2 couple of weeks ago - did an almost faultless ride pre-test, but was so nervous on the test, I was sure I'd failed - actually passed with 4 minors - amazed me!  Examiner used a car, which was a bugger, blocked rear view when pulling away from kerb-stops.  Trying to figure out the bike you're using on this vid - brake master cylinder looks like a BMW - but logo on head stock looks like Aprilia...keep up the good work - excellent..!

Feel like it's a right of passage to leave a comment on this vid once passed your mod 2, I passed today! The guy talking through this vid taught me and took me to test so thanks again! Watched this through in full a couple of hours before to get in the zone. Best drivers pass second time ;-) haha !

Just done my Mod 2 with no instruction and passed, however watching these videos took a lot of the myths away. Was stacking it for Mod1, but Mod2 passed without incident. Couldn't agree more, Russ has the right attitude to telling it "as it is". Big help, I agree.

Hi thanks for this informative video. 26 I passed my driving test at 18 with 4 minors and my HGV at 25 with 4 minors. Now i have always been a confident person when it comes to operating machinery so when you mentioned about having the mentality of sod it il pass it this time or next. It has never been in my mind i have always said im going to do it. But the thing that relieves me of the pressure especially when i was on my HGV test was my instructor said you know the rules of the road you drive your car every day all the examiner wants is a nice safe drive. And i can see the same for this test. We all know the rules of the road prior to this test because we are already riding or driving something prior to the test ie younger rider riding scooters etc or direct access folk who have been driving for years basically you have been on the road in any type of vehicle before you take the test. I am currently debating to go for my bike license but i am unsure. Not because im scared and i know i would pass as i have rode many bikes and been on the roads for years but because i dont know what i want yet. Be it cruiser, sport or just a 125 for a few years to get a feel for riding regular. Do you have any suggestions for this dilemma.
ps sorry for this long post.

Good advice as usual. Yeah I can't agree more, when the training ends, the REAL learning begins. and it never ever stops
