Snowball versus Simply Safe....which one is better for tracking your dividends? Stock brokers provide basic dividend information, but not enough to manage a dividend portfolio that funds your life/retirement. Dividend growth, dividend safety, projected income, and an easy way to see all your income streams in one place is what dividend trackers promise. If you like dividend investing, I hope you enjoy this comparison of my 2 favorite dividend trackers, Snowball Analytics and Simply Safe Dividends.

This looks really useful! Love your concise videos, most YouTubers talk too much

Another plus for Simplysafe is that they track CD's and Tbills that are imported from your broker where as Snowball does not, in snowball you have to enter them by a setting up a custom entry

I would suggest to folks that snowball analytics still has a few bugs to work out yet. Sometimes their screens don’t give the same dividend calendar information across tabs….just fyi. But yeah I went from SSD to Snowball for the cost.

I have two funds. VTI & SCHD. Right now vti is 99.9٪ of my portfolio but what im doing is taking the dividend payment from VTI and buying SCHD shares with it.

I just started that process this month so i only have 1 share of SCHD. If there was a way to track how this portfolio grows that would be cool

In the exact same boat as you. I have SSD but yeah that $499/yr is a tough pill to swallow. Signed up for Snowball so have both atm, but am also leaning towards clipping SSD after the yearly sub ends.

Do either of these have much info on CEFs as far as how well the dividend is covered? BST, MCN, GAB, SRV are some examples

I tried Snowball and liked the presentations results but I could not reconcile the yeild % calculations based on the current monthly dividend and current price of the ETF.

I prefer to just use my own spreadsheets and track dividend safety myself.

Good vid! I own Arcc was checking out PBDC expense ratio must be .55 or .67 but yahoo finance says 6.79% 😆 must be wrong. 🤔

Does the Simply Safe score actually work on ETFs? Snowball's just says Not Available for like 90% of my portfolio.

Snowball looks good, but I'm too cheap to pay for any of it. I have trimmed my number of holdings to 35 from over 60 this year, and I plan to eliminate more of my individual holding for ETFs in 2024. I will just keep a few REIT's and BDC's.

With all the issues dividend trackers have had with Fidelity after Fidelity changed their security requirements, does Snowball work with Fidelity?

Are there any security issues with allowing snowball access to your brokerage account?

made the jump to Snowball.. So far I like it.. just learning the nuances of it.. but for income tracking its very good... I wish it had a "update all" portfolios button.. instead of each one but I have to investigate if it downloads all transactions automatically.. I still need to correct the initial stuff to make it line up.. but so far so good for the cost.. thanks for the comparison, I had it narrowed down to these two as well..

Thank you. Do either allow portfolio upload as a .csv upload similar to Seeking Alpha?

Can I set an alert to be notified when a dividend reaches a certain amount on either of these trackers?

I got in to snowball on their Black Friday sale. I've been loving it. Support was excellent when I had billing questions. I also use the portfolio refresh which connects automatically to my broker and updates my trades. Love the div calendar, and protected income, customizable categories. Looks good in mobile app as well! I have noticed that snowball doesn't always have a risk ranking on newer ETFs. Maybe they need a year's history or something first. I also like the weekly portfolio summary emails I get. 😊
