I try to follow, it's helping me learn differences between distributions and structures of Linux through the error messages and the complete lack of success following through any tutorial.
Yes learning through failure, it's like writing a story or drawing a picture by selectively erasing everything that isn't working.
In this case I got the error message, "system has not been booted with systemd init system"

That tells me what init system I'm not using and that there is more than one kind..

Just like I discovered there's more than one GUI.. more than one boot loader.. ect...
Is there a command to tell me what I am using to narrow things down besides using process of elimination?
It would be very useful between customized distributions, remote cloud services or just using someone else's system..
Though the error messages are helpful to help let me know what doesn't work with what, it's not a very time efficient way to learn !

Only if using systemd init. Some don't use monolithic init systems. Openrc is what I use

What if I want to keep the default status of a process to be disabled(when system restarts, process shouldn't auto start)
