Young people are spending increasing amounts of time looking at screens rather than each other. They're not learning to read people, or even to show their emotions in the same way. They're even coming into the workforce with a deficit of soft skills.

Those are just a few of the ways in which people who've lived their whole lives in the age of digital technology - digital natives - have been impacted by the use of smart phones, tablets and computers. They're also re-shaping society in a variety of ways.

Psychologist Julie Albright of the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences explores these and other related topics in her new book “Left to Their Own Devices: How Digital Natives are Reshaping the American Dream.”
